Over one hundred national finalists from across Scotland came
together at Hampden Stadium on Friday to receive Inspire-Aspire Awards presented
by Liz McColgan and welcome the Olympic torch to Glasgow.
Before presenting the
awards, former World Champion and Olympic Silver medallist McColgan told a
packed audience that it was inspiration from her coach and her determined work
ethic which gave her the edge over more talented runners.
The Inspire-Aspire Awards
programme has reached over 35,000 young people this year by using the Olympic
and Paralympic Games and the character qualities of Olympians to inspire young
people to set personal goals and to develop future aspirations.
The Inspire-Aspire team would like to thank all pupils, parents, teachers and guests who attended on Friday and welcome any comments on the event, the programme or Awards process. Please send an email with any feedback to admin@inspire-aspire.org.uk.
